The Zoom Q8n-4K is a versatile recording tool that combines a 4K camera and a four-track recorder. It features a 150° wide-angle lens with five field of view (FOV) options, an interchangeable Zoom X/Y microphone capsule, two XLR inputs (mic/line) with switchable phantom power, a 2" colour LC display that can be flipped 180° for self-movie capture, and an inbuilt mono speaker. The Q8n-4K additionally features a USB interface which allows the user to transfer data to a PC or laptop and also makes it possible to use the device as a webcam for live streaming and online meetings, and the scope of delivery includes a replaceable lithium ion battery, a protective lens cover, a lens hood, a windscreen for the microphone module, a USB cable, and a quick start guide.

Intuitive to operate

Operation of the Zoom Q8n-4K mainly takes place via the buttons located around the display screen. The recording button is located in an easy-to-reach position on top of the device, while other controls - including the on/off switch, the phantom power and input gain buttons, and the memory card slot, are discreetly tucked away behind the fold-out screen. The rotary gain controls have in turn been conveniently placed above the two XLR inputs on the upper edge of the Q8n-4Km, and in addition to the on-screen level meters, the user can also monitor the sound via the headphone output, which is equipped with a dedicated volume control. Should the battery unexpectedly run out, the Zoom Q8n-4K can also be powered via the USB port or using the Zoom AD-17 power supply (sold separately), and the recordings are stored to microSD cards with up to 512GB storage capacity.

Musicians, podcasters, and content creators looking for a high-quality yet budget-friendly recording tool will find what they are looking for in the Zoom Q8n-4K, which is ideal for use on tour, in the rehearsal room, or in the great outdoors thanks to its streamlined design and fold-out microphone unit. Users can always be sure of high-quality sound recordings as well as sharp video images with rich contrast thanks to its scene presets for indoor, outdoor, nighttime, and concert lighting. An "auto" setting is also available, which optimises the lighting based on the environment, and the Zoom Q8n-4K can deliver video resolutions of 720p and 1080p with up to 60 FPS and 4K with up to 30 FPS. What is more, the F2.8/150° wide-angle lens makes the Q8n-4K ideal for capturing everything from musical performances to sporting events, and the device will cut an equally fine figure as a webcam for home office applications.

About Zoom

A compact recording studio

Singer-songwriters can record or stream their performances without a mixing desk by simply connecting their guitar and microphone directly to the Zoom Q8n-4K's two inputs. It is also possible to record an entire band - all instruments as well as vocals - by connecting the master outputs from an external mixing desk to the Q8n-4K. Users can also connect a range of different interchangeable microphone capsules (available separately) to the Zoom Q8n-4K depending on their requirements, including the Zoom VRH-8 ambisonic capsule for 360° recordings, the MSH-6 "mid-side" microphone, the SGH-6 hyperdirectional shotgun capsule, and the EHX-6 XLR/jack adapter, which provides two extra discrete inputs. What is more, the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter allows the Q8n-4K to be remotely controlled from a smartphone or tablet running on iOS or Android.
