Schoeps Mono Set MK 41 - CMC 1 U

Je n'ai jamais été limité par ce micro. Si je ne suis pas satisfait d'une prise ce n'est jamais à cause de lui. Je sais que je peux compter sur lui en toute circonstance (en intérieur). C'est vraiment hyper neutre et c'est tout ce que je lui demande. Si je veux quelque chose de rond je pars sur autre chose (mais c'est plutôt du domaine des large membranes qu'on laisse plutôt aux enregistrements studio et moins sur du live ou du tournage).

Le bruit propre est très faible, c'est plus ou moins le même niveau que celui d'un U87ai en cardio si jamais vous voulez un repère de comparaison. Ce Schoeps et le Neumann sont tous les deux donnés pour 13db(A) donc vous me direz que ce n'est pas étonnant, mais je précise cela pour une bonne raison. Je suis déjà tombé sur des micros de grande marque donnés pour 8-9db(A) de bruit propre qui n'étaient pas moins "bruyants" (c'est relatif) que le U87ai. Schoeps et Neumann donnent des specs qui me semblent vraiment plus sérieuses que la plupart des autres marques (je ne citerai pas de nom).

Il parait qu'à budget égal vous aurez un peu moins de bruit propre avec les MKH 8040 mais je ne les ai jamais utilisés.

Niveau positionnement je trouve ce schoeps vraiment très tolérant, en instrument comme en voix. Pas étonnant de le voir sur tant de plateaux de tournage en bout de perche.

This is my first Schoeps microphone and I'm amazed at the quality of sound and craftsmanship. I own a Sennheiser MKH 50 and a MKH416 and I love those mics. I wanted to invest in a Schoeps mic and I don't regret my purchase at all. This microphone sounds very natural, smooth, sweet and "dry" in a very pleasant way. I focus mostly on dialogue for the films I produce and this is an excellent addition. It picks up the voice really well and it has a pleasant mid tone for dialogue. It has the signature sound of many films we have seen.

The 50, 416 and CMC141 all have different "sounds" and they don't sound the same which is why I bought this Schoeps. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and quality of this mic and I recommend it, no questions asked. Now I understand why it's so loved by sound mixers.

I'm running mines through a Sound Devices 788T recorder and it makes the Schoeps (and my Sennheisers) shine. This is a microphone you want to put it through a high end recorder or mixer. Im convinced (my opinion) something like a Zoom recorder is not going to do justice to this mic due to its thin sound on the low end and harshness on the highs and this is coming from someone who's used Zoom all his life until I made the jump to Sound Devices. This mic is pro level and you want a pro level preamp that's going to give you pro results.

Im November 2019 bestellte ich es noch aus Einzelkompononten. Die Bewertungen kann man dort nachlesen. Der Wunsch nach einem Zweiten war von Anfang an da. Jetzt konnte ich es mir endlich leisten. Die Frage war natürlich ob die beiden Mics gut genug matchen.

Es ist nicht das erste Mal dass ich aus Budgetgründen so vorgegangen bin. Meine ersten Mikros waren MD 441 im Abstand von einem Jahr. Matching war so mittel, beim genauen Hinhören waren feine Unterschiede auszumachen. Die beiden MKH 50 konnte ich 1998 auch nur einzeln für je 1750 Mark mit einem halben Jahr dazwischen kaufen. Matching war sehr gut. Ein Schoeps hätte da 2900 Mark gekostet.

2014 wollte ich eigentlich ein drittes MKH 50 kaufen aber der Preis war auf 1850 Euro hochgeschossen. Meine Teuro-Wut gab den Ausschlag, mich endlich mal ernsthaft mit Schoeps zu beschäftigen. Die Marke war mir lange bekannt aber ich hatte sie in die Schublade "High-End, brauch ich nicht" gesteckt. Was für ein Fehler! Ich lud die Colette-Bedienunganleitung herunter, blätterte zur MK41. Frequenzgang und Polardiagramm lächelten mich sofort an und sagten mir "Hallo, ich bin das absolut perfekte Overheadmikro das du immer gesucht hast". Ich bestellte also das Supernieren-Paar und es übertraf meine hohen Erwartungen deutlich.

Meine Arbeitsweise und mein Blick auf Mikrofone und ihre Färbungen haben sich seitdem grundlegend geändert. Ich habe für jedes nicht neutrale Mikrofon mindestens zwei EQ-Presets, eins zur Simulation und eins zum Linenarisieren. Bei MKH 50 und KM 184 klappt das sehr gut, axial kann ich für meine Ohren Gleichstand herstellen. Den Nahbesprechungseffekt und seine Korrektur muss man natürlich auch bei der MK41 im Blick haben.

So, jetzt habe ich also mein zweites CMC 141 und meine vierte MK41. Ziemlich verrückt. Und das Paar-Matching? Sehr gut. Selbst zwischen CMC641 und CMC141 könnte ich gemischte Paare betreiben.

Meine KM 184 fristen ihr Dasein im Schrank und werden vermutlich bald veräußert. Ich ziehe die Schoeps MK41 aus drei Gründen immer vor, stärkere Richtwirkung auf der Bühne, viel besseres Off-Axis-Verhalten und nicht zuletzt bessere Roadtauglichkeit.

Unterm Strich unglaublich hoher Gebrauchswert beim Live-Recording. Sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.

Muss man dazu eine Boutique-Signalkette haben? Nö. Presonus-Pulte, ein XR18, jetzt MR18, M32C, Mackie 1202 und 402, Behringer FLOW. Bei allen höre ich den Mehrwert der Schoeps. Es hängt natürlich von der Quelle ab ob es sich lohnt.
