Before you read this review, please pay attention that I would like to separate the review into two parts - quality of guitar itself and quality control.
Quality control: Bad. I guess this is a problem with most of the guitars nowadays. QC is not decent anywhere anymore. Before buying the guitar, I was reading reviews and almost everyone was writing that Schecter recently has good quality control. This is not true - at least for my received unit:
- Frets were not finished properly. Not even levelling problem was present, but also sharp edges that created uncomfortable playing.
- Locking not was not properly installed.
- Schecter used not round screws that were holding the springs of Floyd Rose and hence as well another cause for intonation problems. Also springs in FR that are coming with guitar, you can immediately throw them away and put 2 good quality Gotoh ones.
Quality of guitar: I would say it is great after luthier corrected all problems mentioned above.
- Solid work on the finishing (though not perfect), finishing, and build.
- Sustaniac is very nice feature, works well.
- Very comfortable neck, it is what I needed, something between modern C profile of chunky teles and Ibanez type thin necks. It is a golden middle, not too chunky and not too thin.
- The body of guitar is very comfortable for playing in any position, sitting, standing, lying...
- It is also very beautiful especially in this color (green)
- I was able to (after luthier done a good job of correcting problems of course) set the action of guitar to 0.5 mm of 1st string without any problematic buzzes.
Summary:
This is a great guitar but only if you are lucky and receive proper setting of guitar which was under good QC of Schecter. Just FYI - prepare yourself for additional expenses due to possible bad QC of Schecter.
P.S. My unit somehow did not have QC sticker of Schecter on guitar, but there was small sticker from them on the box and Thomann QC check - which is by the way, also issue to address for poor quality control of Thomann.
Long story short - go for it, but just do not expect the best from QC.
