Perfect for me !

I'm a videographer and I use this universal stud 16mm in my Manfrotto Clamp and my Manfrotto 003 Backlight Stand Base.
It allows me to fix a head-ball on it and attach my camera.
It hasn't been made for this use, but it works super well for me and it's smaller then the spigot.
Despite everything, If you really don't mind to carry different adapters and need the maximum of stability, I'll not recommend it for clamp and backlight stand.
I'll recommend the Spigot for the backlight and the Manfrotto 037 Joining Stud.

Small, but effective adapter

We use hundreds of these, usually screwed in one side of Manfrotto magic arms, or in Manfrotto super clamps, with the 3/8" BSW thread visible, which suits audio equipment . It is reversible, if you prefer 1/4" thread for cameras etc. We like the hole in the middle, which is useful for attaching safety bonds or cable ties, and we like that they are shorter than the "full length" spigots, because the reduced leverage means that they are less likely to snap off when subjected to shocks (removing the remains of snapped spigots from magic arms is not fun...)

Der Adapter tut was er soll.
Jedoch lässt er sich nur wirklich in 2 Positionen an einer Super Clamp befestigen. Dafür muss die Feststellschraube exakt durch das Loch des Zapfens. Abhängig von den Umdrehungen des Gewindes stimmt dann aber der Winkel nicht mehr. Kommt halt drauf an, was man wie montieren und ausrichten möchte.
