Very satisfied with Thomann, very disappointed with the neck
Her Frosch 01.01.2025
After playing cheap guitars like Squier (Affinity, Classic Vibe) for a long time, I decided to upgrade by building a FENDER stratocaster according to my own specifications, on which I wanted to use this neck, which suited me according to the specifications (matte finish, 12" radius, roasted maple). However, what I received was not what I expected even in a bad dream. The neck is really poorly made and the selected wood is perhaps of worse quality than that used on the lowest Squier series.

The wood has a very ugly Wood grain, which is underlined by a defect in the wood on the edge of the headstock, which creates a hole in a wood and finish of approximately half a millimeter. Another problem is that between the sixth and seventh frets there is a knot in the fingerboard wood, which would probably have a negative effect on the tones in that area after installing the neck (short sustain and other tone distortions). The finish on the fingerboard has very visible scratches from sanding or attempts at polishing, which were done very laxly. Last but not least, The frets are very rough and it is clear that there was an effort to level them by grinding them from the factory, however, no one has rounded and crowned them off and overall the neck seems very sloppy with the choice of wood and workmanship.

For the same price this neck is sold for, you can buy a whole guitar, such as a Squier Classic Vibe. I have tried many of these guitars and none of them had such poor workmanship on the neck.

I sent Thomann an emails asking how to resolve the situation and they responded fairly quickly and started to resolve the situation. The result is that I sent the neck back at their expense and a new neck will be sent to me. I would like to thank Thomann very much for this, their speed of response and truly exemplary service regarding complaints is excellent. I am curious about the quality of the new neck.
