Ortega D7CE-5 Deep

This is one of those instruments you buy for the price, but when you open the box, you really wonder if there could be some mistake in the listing.
The instrument looks great, well built and solid. The body is really massive, you don't expect that when you see the pictures. But when you put the bass on your lap or hung it with the strap, if feels very comfortable. And then there is the sound: you don't expect that an acoustic bass in this price range could do so well sounding unplugged (the huge body may help). Incredible. And it do well also plugged. The fretboard is very friendly and easy to play and well tuned. You can't ask for more.
I also bought the Ortega hard case to protect it adequately.
Maybe, you weren't expecting for this bass but if you are searching a five string acoustic this is really an option to consider buying.

Aangenaam verrast door deze Bas!
Acoustisch stellen dit soort bassen niet bijzonder veel voor. Al is deze voor “Bas op schoot op de bank” prima geschikt! Gisterenavond in de oefenruimte voor de eerste keer in mijn Hartke setje geplukt en hij klinkt fantastisch!!
De hals is super, erg tactiel…geen verrassingen.
De lage B klinkt goed, geen dode punten, sprankelend in het hoog.
Als ik een klein puntje zou moeten noemen is dat hij een pietsie nose-heavy is.
Dit hebben ze opgelost door de voorste strapbevestiging op een wat eigenaardige plek onder de hals te zetten…dat werkt, mits je strap niet al te glad is.
Verder niks dan lof!…een hele fijne goed klinkende bas!
Op termijn komen er misschien andere snaren op, ik speel graag met flatwounds, maar dat is een kwestie van smaak.
