Dreadnought with Martin pickup

Martin D-10E-02 dreadnought guitar with solid sitka spruce top and sapele mahogany body

The Martin Guitars D-10E-02 delivers the legendary sound of Martin guitars at an affordable price, and its classic design features a solid sitka spruce top and solid sapele back and sides. Its dreadnought shape delivers a powerful yet balanced sound, with a characteristic clear bass response, rich midrange, and crystal-clear high end. In a move towards sustainability, Martin has replaced the rosewood in the bridge and fingerboard with Richlite, a composite of plant fibres and resin commonly used in aeronautics and shipbuilding. This material closely resembles the appearance, feel, and resonance of ebony without sacrificing playing comfort or sound quality. The slim-taper neck, decorated with mother of pearl, guarantees a natural and comfortable playing feel.

All the power of a dreadnought

Even with its most affordable models, Martin prioritises the use of solid woods: Sapele, which is similar to mahogany, is used for the back and sides here, while the solid sitka spruce top has an ultra-fine satin finish to optimise resonance. This combination creates the dreadnought's distinctive sound, capable of cutting through any mix and particularly suited to energetic rhythm playing. In noisy environments, the Martin E1 preamp system allows the the D-10E-02 to be amplified, ideal for group rehearsals or gigs. It is discreetly integrated into the rosette and includes volume, tone, and internal tuner controls, while the robust, sealed machine heads ensure reliable tuning stability.

Martin sound for everyone

With a precise and dynamic sound, a well-balanced frequency response, and generous volume reserves, the D-10E-02 is as perfectly suited to powerful chords as it is to intricate fingerpicking in styles ranging from Folk to Rock and Pop. It is just right for beginners who are moving up to the next level, or semi-professional musicians, since this versatile instrument offers guitarists of all levels a comfortable playing feel, a balanced sound, and a pickup system for use anywhere from the lounge to the stage. Built in Martin's Mexican factory, this guitar displays all the quality craftsmanship associated with the brand, with an accessible price tag. It is worth noting that the less-than-compact dreadnought frame may be less suitable for younger players or those with small hands.

About Martin Guitars

Martin Guitar was founded in 1833 and is thus one of the most long-established brands in the history of the acoustic guitar. Several of Martin’s developments – including the dreadnought shape, robust X-bracing, the placement of the neck-to-body transition at the 14th fret (as opposed to the 12th fret as found on classical guitars), and the use of steel strings – have now become staples of modern guitar construction that countless other manufacturers have since adopted. To put it another way: Music today would sound very different had it not been for C.F. Martin & Co.

A dreadnought for any occasion

Whether it's being played at home, at an outdoor session, or on stage through an amp, the Martin Guitars D-10E-02 will always fit the bill. Its tonal balance, playing comfort, and excellent finish make this a guitar that will fully uphold the brand's reputation. The built-in Martin E1 pickup really opens up a whole world of possibilities, allowing the natural sound of the guitar to be authentically replicated in any performance context. The built-in tuner makes getting ready to play easy and means that players no longer need to rely on an external device. Delivered in a sturdy hardshell case, the guitar comes strung with a set of coated Martin strings with gauges ranging from .012 to .054, so optimum playability is ensured from the moment the guitar is picked up.
