Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasi Set BK

This is a set of terrifyingly good pickups. The coil-split sound replicates either a strat or telecaster perfectly with its bell-like clean tone. There is little to no volume drop, and it is very desirable to use in a setting where you need to have a versatile guitar to get multiple styles of sound out of it.

Pros: Literally everything about how this set of pickups sound.
Cons: According to my luthier, this set of pickup is very hard to install. But every good thing comes at a cost. They can sound a bit thin and noisy from time to time, but it may be a personal issue of bad electrical field in my room.

I would recommend this set of pickups to the ones who want to get that perfect "in-between" as well as spilt coil sounds from artists such as Tosin Abasi, Tim Henson and Ichika Nito on a two humbucker guitar. I wired it to a 3 way + Mini 2 way DPDT Switch for coil spilt, but having a 5 way will be way easier.

I was looking to replace the pickups in my LTD EC 330 with something suitable for both clean and high-gain sounds. Initially I was going to purchase either the EMG HET set or the 57/66 set, however I decided to research Fishman's Fluence range. The ability to swap between pickup 'voices' through push-pull pots sounded like an excellent idea, so I looked deeper.

After watching numerous videos on the Classics, Moderns, Devin Townsend's and Tosin Abasi's, I went with Tosin's set. Admittedly I wasn't familiar with Animals As Leaders up to that point, but I fell in love with Tosin's clean tone in songs like The Woven Web and Behaving Badly. Tosin has a great 'pickup shootout' video on YouTube if you want to hear the Fluences compared to other passive pickups.

Installing these was quite the project. I needed to replace two pots, remove almost all of the wiring and solder some extra wires in my LTD to install these, but it was well worth it. The single-coil voice is perfect for cleans, and the humbucker voices deliver powerful sounds through overdrive and gain.

My LTD has become a weapon thanks to these pickups, so high recommendations are due.

For heavy distortion, crisp cleans, and everything in between (including responsive percussive techniques) - this is the best pickup among many that I've tried before (EMG 81 & 85, Seymour Duncan Full Shred & Invader, BareKnuckle Aftermath, DiMarzio Tone Zone and Air Norton, Fishman Moderns, and more).

You get either crisp or fattened neck and bridge voices, a split-coil percussive voice, a fattened mid-position voice, etc. Every one of them is 10/10, it just comes down to the riff and the flavour. The response is consistent, you never feel like they fight you.

Also, there's a ton of wiring diagram options on Fishman website, and their customer support answered my additional question within minutes. It comes with everything you need to solder it in, except for the selector - I recommend the one I used, the Schaller Megaswitch M.
