I bought this pedal with the intent of using it for some high-gain metal solos, only to discover that it doesn't do that too well.
What it does do well, however, is literally everything else. The JFET sound makes for some really full driven tones, even on the 'tight' setting. For some, this might not be favourable (which I can understand), but it is perfect for me.
The knobs are clearly labelled and easy to use. The 3-band EQ doesn't do a whole lot if you have your amp dialed in already, but it's great if you want a little treble or mid boost, not so much for a bass boost. The volume and gain knobs work awkwardly alone, but there are a few sweet spots where if you have both of them in the right position it works incredibly. Lastly, the boost function is a game-changer. It's my first pedal that has a boost function, and I don't think I'll ever be turning back from it.
I have been using this pedal through a clean amp as well as a slightly driven amp. From my experience, it sounds better when there's already a little drive on the amp.
The only issue I have to mention about this incredible pedal is the power connector. It feels a little cheap. At first, I thought it was the cable that I was using, but as it turns out, every cable I own sits awkwardly in it. It doesn't go in fully and it wobbles around quite a bit. However, with only one small issue to complain about, this pedal definitely gets a recommendation from me.
