a bit underwhelming

They look great and have a nice vintage vibe, and the build quality is solid. However, the strap fit isn’t perfect. The issue isn’t the elliptical shape itself — that part works like an oversized endpin — but the space between the guitar and the pin. It’s very narrow, so thicker leather straps (especially padded ones) are a real struggle to mount.

Because the strap sits so tight, any movement puts rotational force on the endpin, almost like you’re trying to screw or unscrew it. After some use, the screw can start to loosen, and tightening it again is a pain because the wood gives way faster than the screw. Eventually you end up having to reinforce the hole with glue or a toothpick.

They look good and work fine with thin straps, but for thicker leather straps they’re not ideal

Einfach und gut

An meiner neuen Breedlove Akustikgitarre sind zwar gute, robuste Endpins angebracht, aber mit einem dicken Ledergurt war tatsächlich kein Platz mehr für eine Gummisicherung. Das war mir zu unsicher und ich habe die Daddario Elliptical Endpins bestellt. Die Pins sehen sehr wertig aus und sind sehr gut verarbeitet. Die Schrauben sind einen Hauch schmaler als die originalen, passen aber dennoch sehr gut und sitzen fest. Die Funktion ist genau wie erwartet - einfach und gut. Auf jeden Fall eine sinnvolle und günstige Verbesserung.
