Adam Studio cut corners at every possible levels. Indeed, the packaging is extremely minimalist at best. Indeed, there is almost nothing to protect the speaker from external shocks. It also comes with a very short power cable (1,5m) and there is no user manual, not even a quick start guide.
While some speakers in the same price range, like the Yahama HS5 are packaged in a polystyrene sarcophagus and comes with a complete user manual in different languages and with a 2.5m long power cables.
No TRS connectivity.
The sound quality is average, you cannot say that this speaker sounds flat or balanced.
The dealbreaker for me is the white noise hiss coming from this speaker. On 3 different units, I have measured a noise level superior to 35 dB(A). On one of the unit, the hiss was measured at 39.7 dB(A). The hiss is present with only the power cables plugged in, and it doesn't change when you adjust the gain knob.
The support from Adam Studio has been unhelpful. When I have reported my problem about the white noise hiss problem, they have just told that it’s normal for studio monitors to emit a white hiss noise (which is true) and that I should use these speakers as home stereo speakers.
