Neumann KH 120 II W

I was the owner of a pair of Adam A7X for the past 12 years and they served me very well. I mixed anything from film music to EDM to metal. I work in a small 2x3m room with limited acoustic treatment. For fun I reached out to AI to suggest what speakers would be best for my use case. Straight away I was suggested Neumann KH 120 II + MA1 microphone for the room correction analysis.

I started investigating and reading reviews about the speakers and everything I read seemed to support the AI outcome.

I decided to go for it. I sold my Adams and ordered the Neumanns. At Thomann they were kind enough to give me a sort of bundle price with a bit of discount (I also purchased the stands and the mentioned MA1 microphone)

Well I go the speakers, I installed them and had a listen without any room correction engaged. The first song on the playlist I pulled up on Tidal was Now We Are Free (The Gladiator) from Hans Zimmer.
In the 10 seconds I had goose bumps, 20 seconds later I was in tears. The track was elevated to a whole new level. I could hear everything as HZ intended us to. The accuracy, instruments location, the sound stage, the low frequency reproduction and the mid/high crispiness was light years from my previous speakers.
I spent the whole day listening to tracks and to my own mixes. I was constantly like "oh is that how it actually sounds like".
The room correction with the Neumann MA1 provided even more clarity and bass tightness.

Rein äusserlich würde man den kleinen Kraftzwergen ihr hervorragendes Klang- und Frequenzspektrum nicht zutrauen. Exakt auf die Sitzposition eingemessen ergibt sich zudem ein enorm gut aufgelöstes Panorama. Das ist schon sehr fein, wie auch die Handhabung des schlüssig konzipierten Einmess-Systems, das keinerlei Probleme machte und beide Lautsprecher sofort im Netzwerk erkannte. Ein Kauf der sehr viel Freude gemacht hat bzw. weiterhin macht.
