Dans le sable dont on fait du verre

Exactement le genre de son que je cherchais, plus typé que la plupart des cymbales de charley au son brillant et un peu générique. Là il y a du grain, un truc croustillant, que j’adore. Après avoir écouté de tas de sons (en vidéo) , j’ai porté mon dévolu sur cette paire et je ne regrette rien, ça croustille comme une caisse claire au timbre sableux. Elle ne plaira pas à tout le monde. J’adore taper dessus lorsqu’elle est entrouverte, le son ne finit jamais comme sur la plupart des cymbales de charley, elle frissonne le son… je ne sais pas comment dire, mais je n’aime en général pas la fin du son des charley ouvertes ou semi-ouvertes, alors que là c’est de la gourmandise.
La qualité est évidemment là, matériau, martelage, poids, équilibre. Et puis je la trouve trop belle, mais je ne suis pas objectif. Je joue dans un groupe de rock qui va parfois taper dans la musique surf mais un peu agressif, punk, etc. elle est parfaite toute seule, mais j’ai également une ride Istanbul rivetée, et entre les deux, c’est un voyage à chaque fois.

After watching the promo adverts for this cymbal range, I was instantly attracted to them, and I'm even more impressed with these hats now that they're part of my lineup!

I have been playing these cymbals with some math rock bands, alongside a pop-ballad songwriter to find they work tremendously in two different musical environments. The versatility of the sound of the hats was the biggest appeal for me. The hats to my ears are dry and very responsive, without sounding 'choked'. The foot gives a nice subtle 'chick', where the open hat sounds unique but palatable. A foot splash keeps the uniqueness but with more attack and volume.

I love everything about the cymbals, from the weight difference between the pair, to the finishes. As mentioned before, the top hat finish is more alike the Byzance Vintage Pure finishes, it has that slighty raw look, but still beautiful cymbals.

Exactly what i want from hi-hats, a dream!

High stick definition, great articulation and buttery texture.

I find the Meinl 14'' Byzance Sand Hi-Hat to be a great match for funk and fusion despite being versatile enough to work really well within other music genres.

There is a big weight difference between top and bottom cymbals. They sound very articulate and I love the sizzle sound they can make.

They have a fast decay and sound very crisp, the stick definition is great. The volume is controlled and I don't hear harshness anywhere.

Many dry hi-hats can feel a bit dead/choked, not the case with this one. They stay very responsive at low dynamics and showcase a very defined foot chick sound. I can't highlight enough how much I enjoy the sound of these pair of hi-hats when opened slightly, giving you a buttery/sloshy texture.

As always, hand-hammered cymbals bring sound variation between different pairs so test them before buying if you have the opportunity.

I can't find negative things to mention, I would only state that as a limitation for louder/heavier music, you probably want to go with something with more cut and brightness.
