Marshall SN20H Studio 900 Head

I purchased the SN20H Studio Edition and I must say that it is a first step into the world of , let's say , "boutique" head. Why do I say boutique ? Because this head is made and wired in England, full analogic circuits . The price is very correct and the sound is huge. From crunchy Brit-pop to distorted metal genre, it excels in all. It welcomes very well pedals. Surprise ! : the clean channel is also excellent when playing......electro acoustic guitars , which is quite a nice and amazing surprise.
I want to praise the after-sales service from THOMANN. The reverb was not working properly ( maybe a connection issue to the reverb tank ?... I don't know, as the problem was swiftly fixed ) . The THOMANN technical center examined my amp after I returned it and very professionally fixed the problem within short leadtime. My satisfaction is at 200%. Just to give you an idea how Thomann proceeds with the repairs : the technician opens it then after repair is done, he puts labels with his name on it, as evidence of responsibility and professionalism. Congratulations THOMANN ! You exceed all my expectations !!!

C'est petit , c'est bien fini.

J'apprécie particulièrement :

-les 2 canaux switchables au pied pour le grunge
-l'authentique réverbe à ressort
-le crunch naturel sur le canal clair ( si souhaité )

Je joue pour le plaisir en maison uniquement

J'utilise pour cet ampli préférentiellement le micro chevalet d'une Gibson Les Paul Standard, un atténuateur Iron Man puis le baffle 2X12 adapté. L'atténuateur me permet de régler les potards d'ampli et de préampli presque à fond sur les 2 canaux avec un volume de chambre.

Les moins :

Le son clair moins dense qu'un Fender blackface
La distorsion plus brouillon qu'un Mesa Boogie rectifier
Peut-être le moins légendaire des amplis Marshall ?

Au final : c'est l'ampli de mes 14 ans donc un brin de nostalgie dans ce choix d'achat que d'autres auront également ...
